Kenzie's Kids was established by middle school student McKenzie Watt when she was in 4th grade to help make reading--and being read to-- a central part of everyday life. In 2019, McKenzie authored and illustrated her very own children's book in partnership with WETA/PBS's Young Writer's Program. This experience inspired her to make sure that every child had the opportunity to find their own voice through reading and writing. She's made it her goal to make sure that every child can #turnthepage.
Kenzie's Kids collects and distributes more than 2,000 books annually to children residing in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC. Through community book drives and collaboration with community partners, Kenzie's Kids focuses on unlocking literacy to unlock learning. Kenzie's Kids also engages in read- aloud programs at local schools and community events.
Kenzie's Kids believes books awaken a child's imagination. Our work is dedicated to making sure that each child experiences the joy of getting lost in their very own book--potentially inspiring them to write their own someday.
Kenzie's Kids is currently looking for gently used board books and picture books
